Hard wearing varnish for interiors and exteriors, Annie Sloan lacquer is available in both Matt and Gloss finishes. The gloss is more durable and is recommended for floors and outdoor projects.
Always use a new or very clean brush as any colour or debris in the bristles will taint the lacquered finish
Do not use directly from the tin. Instead pour a small amount into an old jar or dish as the colour from the chalk paint you are sealing will mix with the lacquer and colour it. Don't pour unused lacquer back into the tin to ensure the lacquer is clear and perfect for your next project.
If you would like the most durable finish but don't want a gloss finish. Use the gloss lacquer to seal the project for the first coat and then paint the second coat with a Matt lacquer to dull the shine. At least one gloss coat and 2 Matt is recommended for the best result.
Lacquer finishes will change slightly over time so touching up a finish is not recommend for lacquer. If the piece is chipped or cracked, do a quick chalk paint coat and then reapply the lacquer as per the first time you did it.
